Scafell Pike is the smallest of the National Three Peaks Challenge, with a height of 978 metres. There are many mountains in Scotland and Wales that are higher than Scafell Pike, but it is one of the National Three Peaks as it is the highest mountain in England.
The route we take:
There are many different routes you can take to get to the summit of Scafell Pike, one of the most popular being from Wasdale Head, and this is the route we take. It is the quickest route, with a total of just 6 miles and an ascent of 989 metres. We will begin from the National Trust Wasdale Campsite car park, heading up the footpath along Lingmell Beck. After crossing Lingmell Beck, we take the steep ascent up the moraine of Brown Tongue. Eventually we will reach the Ligmell Col, this is where the Seathwaite route known as ‘the Corridor route’ meets for the final part of the climb. A few hundred metres left and we will reach the summit.
Where is Scafell Pike?
Scafell Pike is located in The Lake District, Cumbria. We will park in Wasdale Head - National Trust Wasdale Campsite car park
